On Instagram Adidas has 861 posts,
7.4 million followers and are following 81 accounts while Reebok has 1,183
posts, 598 thousand followers and are following 316 accounts as of March 12,
2016. Adidas post once everyday while Reebok post twice a day. Adidas posts
focus on encouraging the target audience by posting inspirational pictures
followed by motivational comments. Similarly Reebok takes the same approach by
emphasizing to the audience that a healthy and active lifestyle is they key to
staying fit and loving your body. When observing the last 25 posts on Instagram
of Reebok and Adidas I determined that there was one from each company that
really stood out to me. The first successful post was from Adidas on February
14th 2016. In honour of Valentines Day the company posted a picture that
depicts two female legs and it appears to the audience that the females in the
picture are kissing. This picture received praise from everyone from the LGBT community
to the Huffington Post. Adidas post incorporated keywords and the importance of
equal rights of all sexual orientations in their post. Adidas posted “The love
you take is equal to the love you make”. The post earned Adidas 299 thousand
likes and 168 thousand comments. Reebok’s most successful post-integrated
motivational characteristics that help the audience reach their goals. The
included multiple key words and pharses such as: “The core of strength is mind
over matter”,#BeMoreHuman #HeroRacerBra, #CrossFitLifterPlus, and “Repost from
@emilyschromm Love being back to @crossfitpoipu. #reebok #reebokone
#beyourownsuperhero”. This post received 9,222 likes and more than 33 comments.
After reviewing the number of likes and comments from each post it is evident
that the more successful post was the Adidas post because it grabbed the
attention of multiple people and organizations around the world.
